Late Work Policy
I appreciate work turned in on-time.
Work left uncompleted illustrates your attitude toward deadlines and your work ethic.
Actions speak: What do you want yours to say about you?
Because timeliness is important, I expect assignments to be turned in on-time.
One Day Grace:
You can earn a good grade on an assignment by turning it in within 24 school-day hours of its due date/time.
School days include: Partial days, Half-days, Tournament days, Service days, E-days, and School days when your class doesn't meet
School days don't include: Sabbath, Sunday, Non-E-day snow days, and No-school Holidays
After 1 school day:
I will still accept an assignment for some credit until the second Friday.
“Some” is defined as “somewhere between 1% – 59%, depending...”
Depending on what? How late the assignment is, the circumstances surrounding its lateness, the attitude of the student, the quality of the work.
After 2nd Friday:
No credit.
Summary
Bad excuses for having a late assignment
Excuses are used to make you look better, or as an attempt to get me to bend my late work policy. These are some of the ineffective excuses my students have used in an attempt to not get penalized. I am sorry, but I do not accept excuses.
Remember
While sickness does extend deadlines, it doesn't give you a free pass. You are still responsible for knowing what happened while you were gone. Some of you have been very good at finding out what you missed and completing it. That means the rest of you can too.
Dropped assignment(s)
Because life is life, sometimes you will forget to complete an assignment or bring it to class.
I generally drop one (or two) assignment(s) from the assignments category to account for a periodic off-day.

- 1 minute - 1 school day: Can earn up to 89%
- 1 school day - 2nd Friday: Can earn up to 59%
- After 2nd Friday: No credit
- By the way, I take the penalty off the top, not off the bottom. There is a difference.

- I didn't know that was due today
- My computer crashed and I forgot to save
- I had too much homework from another class and didn't get to this assignment yet
- I think I was absent when that was assigned
- I had a basketball game last night
- I emailed it to you. Did you not get it?
- I stayed at my dad’s this weekend
- I left that in the car accidentally, and "she" isn't answering my texts
- My internet was down
